HOW TO USE GUA SHA FOR AN EFFECTIVE FACIAL YOGA ROUTINE

We've been exploring different facial yoga routines for a while now, so today we want to talk about the basics: using the gua sha stone.

What is Gua Sha Stone?

Gua Sha is an ancient tool originating from traditional Chinese medicine, which has gained popularity in recent years for its benefits in skin care, especially for the face. This small utensil, usually made of jade , tiger's eye , or obsdian , is used to massage the face, promoting blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and helping to rejuvenate the face .

Learn to use Gua Sha

First, you should know how to properly hold the Gua Sha stone. The four fingers are in front and the thumb in back. Not only is the grip important, but also the position and relaxation of the shoulders.

With your opposite hand, hold the skin while you move your gua sha toward the outside of your face, always moving from the inside out and in a flat motion.

In addition to the straight edge, the gua sha tool has a heart-shaped tip. This area is designed to tone the jawline of your face and also perform lymphatic drainage.

Gua Sha Stone as an extension of our face

We must understand that facial yoga applies massages to our face, so gua sha is adapted to the folds of the facial muscles.

Depending on the area, we may or may not need to apply pressure with the stone. Whether it's Jade, Obsidian, or Tiger's Eye, these semiprecious stones are soft enough to exert their own influence.
